The fund invests in shares of a diversified group of other funds ("underlying funds"). The underlying funds in which the fund may invest are a part of either the American Funds Insurance Series® ("AFIS") or the American Funds R6 mutual fund share class. It allocates approximately 60%-100% of its assets to underlying funds that invest primarily in equity securities, 0%-40% of its assets to underlying funds that invest primarily fixed-income securities, and 0% to 20% of its assets to underlying funds that invest primarily in money market securities.
